Culture, Sport an Recreation in Mpumalanga
As MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation in Mpumalanga, I am happy that the waiting is finally over for yet another exciting edition of one of the biggest annual festivals in the country, the Innibos. It is a known fact that patriots of the festival have been waiting with bated breath for activities of the festival to unfold and that moment is finally upon all of us.
Like the rest of the people in the province and country, I am looking forward to be enthralled by song and dance and blown away by the beauty of the Innibos. After all, the festival is teeming with everything that brings South Africans together – music, food and the arts.
Our Department has great pleasure to once again be part of one of the biggest cultural extravaganzas in the country. The Innibos National Arts Festival has become synonymous with a cultural melting pot and unifying the people of Mpumalanga and beyond. It is also a world-class cultural festival that continues to grow in leaps and bounds. We are expecting it to reach new heights this year in terms of attendance, entertainment, excitement levels and bringing our people together.
As the Department, we want to extend our gratitude to the people of Mpumalanga for supporting the festival which contributes to our efforts of working towards achieving social cohesion and nation building in the Province. Innibos owes its success and growth to each one of you who have gone through the turnstiles over the years. The festival could not be where it is today without the support of the people and that of the business community.
The Innibos National Arts Festival embodies our mission of promoting social cohesion and nation building through, culture, sport and information service to the people of Mpumalanga. We encourage all South Africans to come out in large numbers and support this year’s festival and in the process get a glimpse of what the Afrikaans culture has to offer in terms of music, cuisine as well as arts and crafts. We will continue to support events or activities that allow South Africans from diverse backgrounds to celebrate our inclusive heritage and promote oneness among our people. We need to work together to create a winning nation that will create opportunities for all our people and we are dutybound to raise our hands and respond to the clarion call made by President of our country, his excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, of “Thuma Mina!”
We say to all people of Mpumalanga and beyond,Innibos is here and geniet!

We are truly grateful and aim to take this year’s festival to new heights!
This year we are lighting the creative fires at the Innibos Festival, whether it is music, theatre, art, a crawl, book discussions or just relaxing and enjoying the festivities on the festival grounds.
The Innibos Programme is jam-packed with a variety of entertainment on offer for all ages and preferences.
